MWOTRC Awards

The Metropolitan Washington Old Time Radio Club was created in 1984. Monthly meetings and/or luncheons have been held ever since then, usually in Northern Virginia. The purpose of our hobby group has always been to collect, preserve, promote, and share/exchange ideas and materials from the Golden Age of Broadcasting. Over the years, we have created the following awards for service to the club and to old time radio.

The Stan Cawelti Memorial Award

Cawelti Award
Cawelti Plaque
Cawelti Cup
Jefferson Cup

Each year, the MWOTRC awards the Stan Cawelti Memorial Award, named in honor of Stan Cawelti. Stan was an early member of the club, and was very active. According to a Radio Recall article from 2004:

"He attended almost every meeting, helped in our presentations to the elderly homes and clubs, served as our newsletter editor, and had just been elected vice president."

Each winner of the Cawelti Award has their name added to the Cawelti plaque and receives a "Jefferson" cup with their name engraved on it.
